Arthur's career has focused on the adaptation of historic and/or environmentally sensitive landscapes to contemporary needs and goals. His wide-ranging experience includes master planning and landscape architecture for university and corporate campuses, retirement communities, urban streetscapes, churches, private estates, regional parks, historic battlefields and public museum grounds.

Arthur's work has received numerous honors including four national and three state American Society of Landscape Architecture awards. Prior to founding ABL Landscape Architecture, Arthur practiced with Peter Walker and Partners and the SWA Group (based in California) as well as Hill Studio and Frazier Associates (based in Virginia).
